Direct Primary Care in Arkansas — FAQ

Common questions about how Rooted Health memberships work for telehealth, hormone therapy, GLP-1 weight loss, and in-person primary care.

What is direct primary care (DPC)?

Direct primary care is a membership model where you pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited access to your primary care clinician — no copays, no insurance billing for the visits themselves. Rooted Health operates under Arkansas's DPC statute (Ark. Code § 23-99-103). DPC is not insurance and does not replace catastrophic coverage.

Is Rooted Health a telehealth or in-person clinic?

Both. We offer a virtual telehealth tier for Arkansas residents and in-person tiers at our Conway, Arkansas location. Telehealth visits are limited to patients physically located in Arkansas at the time of the visit.

Can I get GLP-1 weight-loss medication or hormone therapy through Rooted Health?

Yes, when clinically appropriate. Members receive transparent member pricing on labs, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), pellet therapy, peptides, GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, IV therapy, and aesthetic services. Each treatment requires informed consent and clinician evaluation.

Does the membership cover controlled substances like ADHD medications?

Controlled substances require an in-person evaluation under the federal Ryan Haight Act and Arkansas controlled-substances rules; they cannot be initiated by telehealth alone. Our in-person tiers are appropriate for these needs.

Is the Rooted Health membership health insurance?

No. The membership is a direct primary care arrangement, not health insurance, and does not satisfy any insurance mandate. We strongly recommend keeping catastrophic or major-medical coverage for hospital, ER, and specialist care.

How long is the membership commitment and can I cancel?

The initial term is 12 months with 30 days' written cancellation notice. A $150 early-cancellation fee applies if you cancel before completing the initial 12-month term. The one-time enrollment fee is non-refundable.
